Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu reacted after yesterday's opposition protest. He accused the police of using violence against protesters and political representatives.
From the premises of the "Mine Peza" police station, where he visited those detained from the previous day's rally, Balliu described the intervention of the law enforcement forces as a serious and unacceptable act.
According to him, during the clashes, protesters and MPs were hit with strong weapons, while strong spray and tear gas were also used. The Democrat MP also raised concerns about the way the police acted, demanding that the officers who participated in the intervention undergo drug tests.
"Do drug tests should be conducted for the police officers who participate in these rallies. It is one of the most criminal acts ever. Violence against citizens and deputies who have been hit with rubber batons. They have been hit with spray used for bears, they have also combined it with other substances, such as tear gas. Operations to poison the politics of the Socialist Party. That intervention will receive the response it deserves. We will have zero mercy for the criminals who raped last night," said Balliu.
The statement comes in a climate of tension following the protest, as the parties continue to exchange accusations over responsibility for the clashes.
