The appeal of GJKKO has upheld the house arrest decision for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. His lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj said that what is happening is a legal show.
According to him, SPAK has shifted the focus of the investigation to technical and financial levels that are not related to the proceedings.
"The court approved the decision of the first instance almost as SPAK says. But what is SPAK doing? This is the most disturbing part, this SPAK has shifted the focus of the investigation to technical and financial levels that are not related to the proceedings. We will continue on our way, I don't know how they will go," said the lawyer, among other things.
As for Sali Berisha's mandate as a deputy, the lawyer said that "it is legally intact, because he is not going to the Parliament through no fault of his own".
Question: SPAK has made a decision to perform an accounting expert act, can you tell us what the prosecution intends to prove?
Gjokutaj : A construction has a cost, here there is no problem neither between the owners nor between sellers and buyers! An accounting expert report is not made after 3.5 years of investigation. But it is done immediately. Because if there are movements of amounts that do not correspond to real costs. So what are you talking about?
Question: When do the investigation deadlines end?
Gjokutaj: The deadlines of the investigation have been determined by the law, they have postponed them. Berisha is in detention while actions are being carried out that are not related to the crime of corruption! Come on, you and I explain together what is this legal show that these people are developing.
Question: What will happen to the mandate?
Gjokutaj: Berisha was given the mandate by the people. Berisha is not absent because of his desire. We made the request to SPAK, to the court, the high court and they decided against the practice! Berisha's absence is not his fault and his mandate remains legally intact.
