The Freedom Party has reacted harshly after the appointment of judge Irena Gjoka to review the criminal case against former President Ilir Meta, making strong accusations about the legality of the selection and her professional integrity.
In a harsh statement to the media, PL Secretary General Tedi Blushi denounced Gjoka's appointment as "not accidental" and politically orchestrated by Edi Rama and SPAK leader Altin Dumani. He described Gjoka as a "recidivist delinquent", publishing documents that he said prove her conviction in Greece for document forgery and administrative expulsion by Greek authorities.
" It was not the lottery that decided her, but Edi Rama and Altin Dumani. She was sentenced to prison and a fine in Ioannina for a forged document and was deported from Greece. She passed the vetting by fraud. This is not justice, but a politically directed farce ," Blushi declared.
He warned that if Gjoka does not step aside from this issue, the process against Ilir Meta “will not be recognized as a judicial process, but as a political operation to eliminate the opposition.” According to him, the decision to appoint her is not only illegal, but coordinated from above to execute orders from the political power.
