Fatmir Mediu seeks to save Gërdec with paid meetings in the US, pressure on

Gërdeci, Mediu wants to bring witnesses from the USA...

The main reason why Fatmir Mediu goes to the US every month and posts photos taken in some corner of a building or flowerbed on Facebook is revealed.

Fatmir, all these months, has been lobbying hard to secure some support for the Gerdec trial. As the end of the trial approaches, Mediu is attempting to use some paid congressmen to exert pressure on the Albanian judiciary.

This Wednesday, the next session was held at the GJKKO for "Gërdecin", a file in which former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, is accused of abuse of office and violation of procedures in the establishment of the dismantling factory.

During the hearing, Mediu objected to the expert report presented by the group of experts. The former minister requested that the court take into account the testimonies of political and military figures of the time, given in the US, also noting a letter that 6 American congressmen have sent to the Ministry of Justice.

" 6 American congressmen have sent a letter to the Albanian Ministry of Justice, requesting that the testimonies of military and political figures of the time, given in the US voluntarily with an (affidavit), which is a declaration under oath and has the value of evidence in the American justice system, be taken into account in the 'Gërdeci' process ," he said.

This action by Mediu comes after the GJKKO rejected their summons as witnesses. The next hearing for Mediu is set for June 24, at 1:00 PM.

The trial against Mediu has been dragging on for 3 years. In February 2023, he was taken as a defendant for Gërdec and sent for trial, but there is only delay.

Mediu is accused of having issued several sub-legal acts in violation of the law, SPAK announced when it sent the file for trial, in connection with the demilitarization and dismantling of ammunition that took place in the premises of the former 'Tank Brigade', in the village of Gërdec, Vora Municipality, in collaboration with other officials of the Ministry of Defense, as well as persons who held the status of commanding military personnel.

The prosecution says that these acts, related to the sale and dismantling of a quantity of ammunition, "have harmed the legitimate interests of the state and have brought unfair advantages to the companies SAC Inc. and Albademil sh.pk."

The Special Prosecution Office explains that during the investigations of this criminal proceeding, further actions were taken in relation to the procedure for the sale of combat ammunition by the Ministry of Defense and the company "MEICO" to the foreign companies "Evdin" Ltd., based in Cyprus, and "AEY", based in Florida. / Pamphlet
