Florjan Binaj, the independent candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, joined today the protest of activist Adriatik Lapaj in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
The meeting between them comes at a time when public tensions towards the government have increased following a series of scandals and accusations of institutional corruption. Binaj congratulated Lapaj and announced full support for the protest, adding that he will be present at all civic rallies announced for the coming days.
" When citizens remain silent, the government becomes emboldened and crushes them with the foot of power. When they stand up, governments cower ," declared Binaj. He emphasized that participating in protests is a basic duty for every citizen who refuses to be humiliated by a corrupt system.
Binaj announced that tomorrow he will participate in the protest called by the Opportunity Party in front of the Mandates Council, on Saturday he will join the "Albania Becomes" movement and on Monday he will be at the Democratic Party's protest on December 22. " It is very good that citizens are reacting, but it is not good that they are protesting separately. We need unity without party flags. This is the only way to stop this government that knows no bounds in abuse ," he said.
Florjan Binaj, known for his public engagement and criticism of the government, considers the unification of civic protests a political and moral necessity. " Today it no longer matters who organizes the protest, but who dares to stand up for this country. I will be there with all those who no longer accept this injustice ," he concluded.
