The Democratic Party is holding its fourth consecutive protest in as many weeks today outside the offices of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In the format of "parliamentary-civic rostrums", the DP launched this protest format with the arguments that its spaces in the Albanian Parliament have been minimized and opposition MPs were not given the floor. The protest is expected to start at 18:00 and, referring to the 3 previous protests, is not expected to last more than 1 hour.
The police have taken their measures, and are expected to block several road axes, as well as part of the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard. Referring to the fact that there have been no incidents in the 3 previous protests, a further reduction in the number of security forces lined up to protect the Prime Minister's Office building is expected.
From the protests so far, what has stood out is a very low turnout of opposition supporters, but according to Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, the protests will continue until Edi Rama leaves power.
Today is the next protest, which coincides with National Youth Day, where on December 8, 1990, students began their rebellion against the dictatorial system, while 3 days after the student movement, pluralism was declared.
On this very day, Belind Këlliçi has asked young people to join the opposition protest, and it is expected that this afternoon, speeches will mainly be given by young people, but also the democratic leader Berisha himself, is expected to focus his speech precisely on the movement of 35 years ago.
