The leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, attacked justice reform during an event held in Washington.
While participating in the International Union for Democracy Forum, he said that SPAK has complete control over the courts, which, according to him, operate under fear and pressure.
According to Mediu, the judicial system is under the "chain" of the socialists, while adding that today the justice system is only called SPAK and not the judiciary.
"I believe that courts and judges, not prosecutors, are the ones who deliver justice. SPAK has full control over courts and judges, they function under fear and pressure. The justice reform that was supposed to free the judicial system was placed in the political chains of the socialists, to put it simply, before the reform we had 16 thousand backlogged cases, today we have about 200 thousand. With decisions that take 8-15 years. Today the justice system is called only the special prosecution and not the judiciary," said Mediu.
