Strong competition on open lists, here are the winning names in each district; PS also dominates the diaspora vote

Strong competition on open lists, here are the winning names in each district;

The process of counting votes within the country has ended, but the counting of votes from abroad continues, where half of the envelopes are still in. Meanwhile, the counting of preferential votes continues in parallel. Below we are presenting a reflection of the situation from the diaspora vote and who are the current winners of the individual vote.

The Diaspora Vote

The counting of diaspora votes continues at a slow pace, but with clear political messages. Out of a total of 194,889 envelopes, 98,476 have been opened so far, and the result shows that the Socialist Party of Albania maintains its absolute lead even abroad.

The Socialist Party secured 52,834 votes, representing 54.13% of the total votes counted so far from the diaspora. A clear dominance, which shows that even Albanians living and working abroad – beyond the internal political noise – continue to trust Edi Rama.

In second place is the DP-ASHM Coalition with 27,653 votes (28.33%), while the "Albania Becomes Initiative" collects 8,217 votes (8.42%), showing some impact in the diaspora, although not enough to tip the balance. The "Opportunity" Party has received 3,501 votes (3.59%), while the PSD has only achieved 1,141 votes.

Meanwhile, small parties such as the Joint Movement (2,557 votes), the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, the Homeland Movement and the Right for Development remain at symbolic levels, without any real impact on the distribution of mandates.

Total result (diaspora + domestic votes)

This diaspora result is another signal that the opposition not only failed to mobilize immigrants, but also failed to convey a convincing alternative message. With the SP dominating the polls abroad, the completion of this process could further strengthen its advantage in the districts where the race remains open.

Individual competition

While the counting of votes within the country has been completed and the preliminary results for the allocation of seats have been made public, the open list race continues with intensity, especially in Tirana. A single seat out of the 13 DP seats in the capital depends on the popular vote – and that seat has become the arena for a sensitive duel between two of the Democratic Party’s most respected figures: Jorida Tabaku and Ilir Alimehmeti.

So far, Alimehmeti leads by a narrow margin of only 30 votes over Tabaku (5899 to 5869), but hundreds of envelopes from the diaspora that have not yet been counted could overturn everything. A minimal lead, which makes this the most unpredictable race in these elections.
