SPAK stated yesterday that it has not registered proceedings against any of the new MPs, but was it a ploy by SPAK?
The Special Prosecution Office made a somewhat surprising statement yesterday. In a response to a television station, the Special Prosecution Office stated that it has not registered criminal proceedings against any of the 140 new deputies of the Albanian Parliament.
" The names included in the sent lists have not yet been registered as persons under investigation in the criminal offense notification register of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime ," says SPAK.
But her answer has caused surprise, since in reality there are several names that are being investigated. The arguments seem to be two: The first is that this could be a strategy. SPAK never registers proceedings with names for high-ranking officials. It continues the investigations for as long as it takes and finally registers, not to mention before requesting security measures. The reason is that if registration is made with specific names, the law sets time limits for investigations.
The second is that SPAK has probably surrendered to politics. Since Veliaj's arrest, there have been no more important names arrested. There is even talk that the SP's landslide victory on May 11 has demotivated prosecutors.
The suspicions are that SPAK may have a strategy, since there are several names that are being investigated and according to sources, the investigations are in the preliminary phase, so there is no criminal prosecution registered.
We have Olta Xhaçka , where investigations into the affairs with military properties continue, especially for that of Saranda. SPAK itself has not registered proceedings on behalf of the former minister, but her name is there.
Belind Këlliçi is being investigated for falsifying documents and concealing assets. He was questioned and admitted that SPAK was investigating him. We have Luan Baçi , under investigation for concealing assets. He went to SPAK himself and admitted to doing so. Flamur Noka's assets have also been placed under verification. Another name is Ceno Klosi of the SP, who is being investigated for the time he was director of Taxes.
