The former prime minister, Sali Berisha, reacted to the video scandal of the resigned mayor of Kukes, which he said is not the only case.
He added that this gesture showed that the people elected by Rama have turned state offices into red light districts. According to him, the mayors of Rama do not have in mind to help the citizens, but to abuse them
Berisha further added that justice should be dealt with the case, while he called on President Begaj to announce early elections in Kuka as soon as possible.
" The video published today, which contains an inappropriate recording of the mayor of Kukes, Safet Gjici, has brought to the attention of the public some facts related to power and its abuse.
First, is the use of the mayor's office as a bedroom or a public house, which shows a lack of respect for institutions and voters.
Secondly, it is a sign that the power acquired without right, with money and electoral abuses, leads to such behaviors unworthy of a public official and parent. Thirdly, Gjic's video is a sign that Edi Rama's power is exercised in no other way than by violating the law and ethics codes, desecrating state offices. Houses, hotels, cars are not enough for his power. This power, after taking the state offices by force of electoral abuse, turns them into "red light districts".
This is a system that has been in place for a decade now, and Gjic's video is symptomatic of this way of practicing it. The abuse of office, considering the office as an opportunity to satisfy the functionary and not to serve the citizen, to exert pressure, takes its most complete form during the electoral campaign and elections.
Safet Gjici, as a product of abused and distorted elections, could have no other end. Safet Gjici, as the model that Rama has chosen, from North to South, could not produce any other legacy than the one he left in Kukës. An empty city from which everyone wants to escape, with a stadium and an airport where there are no fans and no travelers. A mayor's office which was sealed with stolen elections and with the honor of the institution and the territory defiled.
While the bodies of the law do their work, and since the position of the Mayor is already vacant, we call on Edi Rama to notify the President of the vacancy, and the latter to announce the date of the elections as soon as possible. Kuksians have the right to vote and choose their president with dignity. Those who are chosen behind the scenes close it, as the video recording proved ", the reaction says.
