Safet Gjici has resigned from the position of the mayor of Kukes after the publication of the video of him having sex in his office. While apologizing for this scandal, Gjici wrote that it was all a trap prepared by political opponents for him. He added that he has had an intimate relationship with the girl in the video for a long time.
" Deep public sympathy to anyone who saw that ugly video today. After a difficult campaign and confrontation with my opponents, after which I emerged victorious, unfortunately I fell prey to a trap prepared in detail by the same hand people I faced in the election. They managed to do in another dirty form what they could do with the vote of the Kuksians. I am very sorry for the incident and I am more than clear that in this situation there is no value in any kind of clarification For some time now I have had an intimate relationship with the girl in question, but of course I have no excuse for what happened regardless of being trapped. I can no longer be the person who works in that state office as I have betrayed the trust of those thousands of people who believed and worked with me to make Kukës an increasingly better city.
Condolences to everyone and lifelong gratitude to everyone who trusted and supported me. It was the honor of my life that was tarnished by an unforgivable frivolity, so today I feel the minimum obligation to resign! May God bless you all !" - wrote Gjici.
