DP MP Saimir Korreshi spoke after the meeting he had with the former leader of DP Lulzim Basha in the premises of the parliament, where the focus was on the discussions about the tensions and threats that occurred on the night of the Presidency meeting.
Korreshi said that Basha has distanced himself and stated that he found out in the morning what had happened.
The PD deputy said that neither Berisha, nor Basha, nor Alibeaj should be presidents of the DP.
" I have said and continue to say intolerable scenes. I definitely complained to Mr. Basha. We discussed this there, to show who is responsible, because supporters of Mr. Basha was. He distanced himself from this part.
I have told him every time. The meeting was more about this part. I stand by my position, Sali Berisha, Lulzim Basha and Enkelejd Alibeaj should no longer run for DP because we must unite all Albanians, and those who are not democrats. If the process does not get on the rails, if there are attacks, I will not participate. It needs some clarity. How do we judge it, if it does not become an unassailable process and we have not achieved anything from the last democrat. We do not have to become part of a process that I once asked Sali Berisha in the parliamentary group. Take your time because not all Democrats are included in this section. The fact brought that today to the part of the re-establishment, the part of the Democrats who thought differently are not included in the structures. This has led to the division of the Democrats. We are doing the same thing today. What we are asking, not to make the same rush. All MPs must sit down. I asked Mr. Bardhi and he has no objections. I am for the DP as it was in 2021 ", said Korreshi.
He further stated that there were two moments for which the deputies really felt that it was definitely Mr. Basha.
" The first moment seemed as if they were ambushed at the Presidency meeting, where the entire presidency was in front of the deputies, where it was known that most of them were supporters of Mr. Basha. Then the outside of the supporters, of those gentlemen that they themselves have labeled, were the supporters of Mr. Basha. 1+1 make 2. That's why today I asked MP Basha to clarify his position with me personally. He clarified that he distances himself, that he has nothing to do with him and that he found out about this only in the morning. I am not for a process that brings Mr. Basha at the head of the DP, with difficulty, with the imposition. In spirit, I am for none of the three to run again. They took costs and used very harsh language towards each other and the supporters below felt used. I say that it is not always important to be a leader. There is no question that all three are valid to be in DP, but no longer leaders ", said Korreshi.
