Ilir Meta, President of the Freedom Party, from the cell, where he has been since October 2024, has advised the opposition on the strategy it should follow, especially with the electoral reform. Meta suggests that the undisputed priority of the opposition should be a common position, while emphasizing that this reform directly connects the citizen with the MP. In this context, he states that this reform can restore real parliamentarism and accountability in the country.
"The Freedom Party believes that the decisive issue that must unite every opposition factor today is the common stance on Electoral Reform. The major objective of the entire opposition is a Reform that directly connects the citizen with the MP. This is the only way to restore parliamentarism and accountability," Meta writes.
Meta also underlines that the opposition must also present a clear project for the Administrative-Territorial Reform, relying on objective criteria that ensure services closer to the citizen and that help curb depopulation.
According to him, the socialist majority has no will for a reform aimed at revitalizing abandoned areas.
"The SP representatives made it clear that they cannot carry out a reform aimed at populating abandoned areas, because depopulation has been and remains one of their main objectives," Meta writes.
He adds that the opposition has successful European models to follow, citing the case of Hungary in supporting the population and young families.
