A debate has 'burst out' in the Democratic Party, following a meeting that Ervin Salianji and Ilir Alimehmeti held with the structures and members of this party in Durrës.
Sali Berisha, the leader of the DP, considered the round of meetings initiated by the former MP and member of the Presidency to be a personal agenda, thus paving the way for a series of accusations towards what could be called the Salianji movement in the DP.
In this context, there seems to be a debate at a distance, between those who support this movement and the official line led by Sali Berisha.
The member of the FRPD in Durrës, Orest Berberi, has chosen to respond to the accusations of Sali Berisha, who links this movement to personal agendas. On Report TV, Berberi says that they are not a hostile group against the party, but their only goal is for the DP to reorganize in order to win the elections.
Berberi says they don't want the DP to split, but if they want to come to power, they need to gather forces and a real reorganization is needed.
"We are not a hostile group against the party, we are members and people who have contributed to the DP, after the May 11 elections, they are attacking us as if we want to divide, we demand that the DP be structured and that we have victory in the next elections. Whether they will expel us or not, we will see in the coming days, I do not believe there is any reason as long as we are the base itself."
"We don't want division, but the strengthening of the DP to lead it to victory, we need reorganization and a real goal whether we want to win or not, if we want to win, let's gather our forces, if we don't want to win, let's stay in this state," says Berberi.
He explains why he joined the Salijanj meeting, which he says he will also support in the speeches he will hold in other cities in Albania. The young democrat emphasizes that the structures have not met since the deep defeat of May 11 and accuses the DP leadership of having lost its orientation with the base.
Berberi emphasizes that in the rostrum with Salinaji, only the truths were told about the situation the DP is in today, emphasizing that the party's structures are more divided than ever.
"It was a meeting requested by the membership, to be held in September, it was not held because according to the excuses of the DP leaders, they spent 3 months dealing with the internationals, now Balluku is toast. The Democrats are eager to do analysis. It was a fruitful discussion and not a spirit of division. In the media it was presented as fragmentation, it is not fragmentation.
It was a discussion in which Democrats participated who wanted to express their opinions freely and to tell some truths that should also be told to the leadership about where the work went wrong that we did not manage to emerge victorious and did not manage to collect enough votes. The leadership has lost its orientation with the base.
"If the base does not have a direction oriented towards victory, it will also bring the result we had. The DP structures are more divided than ever, we must gather forces to unite these structures. If someone wants to talk about the problems, let's give them space and see all the possibilities of how it can be done better," he emphasizes.
