For several days, Greece has been paralyzed by protests by Greek farmers over delays in granting EU subsidies following a corruption scandal.

Regarding this turbulent situation in the neighboring country, journalist Edmond Guri said on 'Today Live in Albania' that farmers have intensified their protests, and other farmers from different areas of the country are even expected to join them.

"The protest is intense and farmers from many areas have joined, farmers from the island of Crete are expected to join as well. They remain steadfast in their demands, they do not accept meetings with the Minister of Agriculture, because they consider them a mockery, since they have not offered any solution. The farmers only want a meeting with the Prime Minister. During the protests there were clashes with the police, the government is not acting at the moment, but only wants the blocked roads to be opened ," said Guri.

He also added that the protests are only by farmers, they are not politically influenced.

"The protests are only for farmers, not politically influenced. Due to corruption, farmers are unable to receive the small amounts they are entitled to. There will be an expansion of the protest, up to the blocking of ports," he added.

Meanwhile, in addition to the protests, Greece has also been hit by bad weather. Regarding this situation, Guri says that it is due to climate change and human intervention.

"In Athens and other areas there has been very extensive damage, flooded houses. As a result of the floods, fortunately we have not had any lives lost. Citizens have been warned in advance via messages. Climate change, human intervention and fires, according to a study, Greece has lost ¼ of its forests. The weather has become unpredictable, bringing disasters. Torrential rains have caused civil emergencies to come to citizens at a moment's notice," he concluded.
