Former Prime Minister Berisha said that Freedom Party leader Ilir Meta is being subjected to psychological terror in prison.
Berisha also stated that Ilir Meta has been banned from using his cell phone and meeting with his family, thus removing his right to communication.
"The uniformed thugs in Fier prison have exercised psychological terror against Ilir Meta because he gave an interview to the media, exercising his right to speech.
"They have gone so far as not allowing him to meet with his family, apparently claiming that there are 4 of them and only 3 can enter, and other acts. They have taken away his phone and the right to communicate because, according to them, he has communicated with the Secretary General of his party," said the leading democrat.
Ilir Meta, currently the leader of the opposition Freedom Party, was arrested on October 21st of last year at the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office, SPAK. Meta and Kryemadhi are accused of corruption, money laundering, and failure to declare and conceal assets.
