The Speaker of the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, participated in the Roundtable Discussion "Assessment of the Institutional Architecture in Function of the Performance and Integrity of the Special Prosecution: Guarantees for Independence and Accountability Mechanisms".
Spiropali stated that the justice system is far from being perfect, but according to her, it is on the right path to functioning.
She said that SPAK and GJKKO have become a model of comparison for the architecture of the rest of the system. Spiropali emphasized that justice does not come from the humor of politics.
"The Assembly, as the approver of the costly changes that implemented the justice reform, remains one of the biggest supporters of the judiciary. The justice system today is far from being perfect, but on the right track of functioning, mainly independence from the whims of politics. SPAK and GJKKO have become a comparative model for the rest of the system's architecture. Progress is not easy, it is a constant struggle where daily battles must be won.
"Behind every statistic is a human life that is paid for by the entire society. I cannot fail to mention that punishment is something other than the provision of justice ," said Spiropali.
