Sali Berisha and Edi Rama seem to be having a tough time with the Trump administration. Although both are using all the maneuvers to entice him as much as possible, the signals are that there is no more "whatever you want".
Prime Minister Edi Rama has managed to attract many US ambassadors in recent years, but now the "Elbasan Road" seems to be taking on a whole new position and the signals were given today.
A classified cable from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has asked US embassies to no longer comment on the legitimacy of elections in the countries they operate in. And in Tirana, this new policy has been felt more than anywhere else.
Albania just held general elections and the American embassy was the first to adopt this practice. It did not congratulate Rama, it did not speak about the legitimacy of the elections, but it congratulated the Albanians. So, practically, it ignored the entire political class.
Rama, who once posed alongside Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, is now in a frightening diplomatic vacuum regarding the US. There has been no official meeting in Washington since Trump came to power. No matter how much he has worked under the rug, it seems that he has not succeeded. The last visit to the US was at Alex Soros's wedding, a clear proof that Rama clashes with the Democrats when the Republicans do not expect him. So it seems clear that both the embassy and the State Department will not allow them to be used for domestic interests. Rama has on many occasions used the US support to benefit politically in Tirana.
But this cable seems to have "cut off" Berisha's arms as well. The latter has signed a $6 million lobbying contract and the big fight he is waging after May 11 is to convince the Americans to overturn the elections. The lobbying company is sending facts and documents to the US, but it seems that it will all be in vain. The US is no longer talking about the elections and Berisha has taken a big blow. Not to mention the "non-women" policy which is still in effect despite the money being thrown at it.
So, in Washington's new game, the US will no longer be what it used to be. On the one hand, this gives free rein to the 'meadow' government and on the other hand, it 'ties the hands' of the opposition. But the message is clear: 'Albanians must pull the donkey out of the mud.' We should no longer wait for the US.

Departamenti nuk do të lëshojë deklarata apo postime në rrjete sociale lidhur me zgjedhje përveç rasteve kur ka një interes të qartë për politikën e jashtme. Nëse një ambasadë apo një byro rajonale mendon se ekziston një arsye e tillë, duhet të kërkojë më parë udhëzime nga zyrat D, P, C dhe S/P përpara se të përgatisë ndonjë deklaratë.
Mesazhet mbi zgjedhje nga Ëashingtoni duhet të publikohen vetëm nga Sekretari (S) ose zëdhënësi (SPOX). Askush tjetër nuk duhet të bëjë deklarata publike mbi zgjedhjet pa autorizim të qartë nga D, P, C dhe S/P.
-Udhëzime për Ambasadat jashtë vendit
Ambasadat jashtë vendit mund të postojnë vetë urime për fituesit në faqet zyrtare ose në mediat sociale, nëse rezultati i zgjedhjeve nuk është i kontestuar publikisht. Mesazhet duhet të fokusohen te rezultati, jo te procesi. Në raste të paqarta, të konsultohen me zyrën e shtypit të byrosë përkatëse rajonale.
Ambasadat mund të shpërndajnë mesazhe të ardhura nga llogaritë zyrtare të Shtëpisë së Bardhë ose nga llogaritë kryesore të Departamentit të Shtetit (S, D, SPOX, StateDept). Nëse duan të shpërndajnë mesazhe të tjera (nga Kongresi, organizata ndërkombëtare, vëzhgues të zgjedhjeve, etj.), duhet të marrin miratimin e zyrës së shtypit të byrosë rajonale, e cila duhet të konsultohet me D, P, C dhe S/P.
Denoncimi i Zgjedhjeve
(SBU) Nëse një ambasadë apo një byro dëshiron të lëshojë një deklaratë që denoncon procesin apo rezultatin e një zgjedhjeje (p.sh. dhunë gjatë votimit ose zgjedhje farsë), duhet të kërkojë miratimin e D, P, C dhe S/P. Këto raste do të jenë të rralla.
