The decision of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS) to remove the mandate of MP Kleana Xhuveli, part of the "Albania Becomes" list, and to give it to another candidate Ana Dajko (Lapaj's aunt), has brought a reaction from the leader of this movement, Adriatik Lapaj.
In a Facebook status, Lapaj calls this decision a "double standard", recalling cases when the Social Democratic Party (PSD) was recognized for its resignations from the closed list and the mandate was passed to candidates from the open list.
"So, the PSD's resignations are accepted and the mandate is transferred to the open list. Not to us! A different law applies to us because we are the Gulag," Lapaj writes in harsh tones. According to him, this decision is a clear example of the lack of equality in the treatment of political entities.
Lapaj added that despite this, he is "proud to fight for open competition" and that the day will come when Albania will have "fair and transparent elections."
