The head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, responded to Taulant Balla's statement by accusing the Socialist Party of denying the debate in the Assembly.
Bardhi said that the majority is aiming to transform the Assembly into an institution without a voice and without debate, avoiding discussions on the country's priorities.
"The majority was revealed, as in the case of September 18, where the composition and program of the government passed without debate. Today, the alibi that the opposition disrupted the session was also dropped. Today, it seems that whoever wants the Albanian Parliament to be mute, and not to debate, is unthinkable for any functional parliament, that the government avoids the debate on Albania's priorities.
"The denial of the right to debate requested by the opposition shows Rama's mindset to make Albania a prime ministerial republic. The SP MPs only vote. The opposition's request for a motion with debate was clear. For us, the Assembly is the place where debate and discussion take place," said Bardhi.
Among other things, he said that the Socialist Party has also rejected the opposition's request for a motion with debate to condemn the Serbian genocide in Kosovo, describing this as a serious violation of the normal functioning of parliament.
"Today, another motion with debate on the genocide in Kosovo was rejected, to condemn the Serbian genocide. On May 17, 2019, the Kosovo Assembly adopted a resolution condemning the Serbian genocide. During the official visit of December 16, 2020, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, would make this call; The Kosovo Path has been full of challenges. In order not to distort the truth, we need the voice of Albania to be our voice where we have no voice. We need help from Albania. We call on the Albanian Assembly to adopt a resolution condemning the Serbian genocide. In response to this call by the President of Kosovo, our parliamentary group, immediately after returning to the Assembly, in 2021, submitted the request. Several years have passed and there is still no resolution. Our request for a resolution was rejected," Bardhi added.
