Even Sali Berisha's most trusted ally, Fatmir Mediu, claims that the May 11 elections were held in a climate of inequality, with the use of state administration and under the influence of criminal groups.
But unlike Berisha, the Republican leader says the opposition should also look to itself. He is convinced that allies sent enough votes to the DP, but the coalition formula in the current code does not allow for the gathering of all electoral potential, according to him.
" The way the coalition is organized needs a different judgment. Functional spaces are not created for the coalition and it does not create opportunities for cooperation with other parties ," he said.
Even the positioning of other opposition currents outside the grand coalition seems to have helped Edi Rama.
" A divided opposition is always in favor of Edi Rama. With 52%, Rama controls over 60% of parliament today ," continues Fatmir Mediu, chairman of the Republican Party.
Mediu thinks that the DP candidates made a mistake by seeking preferential votes only within the democratic habitat.
" The open lists that created a big problem for the opposition, the patriarchs and playboys who fought to get votes, turned into a kind of primaries within the DP, who gets the votes of the DP, and not to identify the undecided voter ," says Mediu.
The right-wing ally appreciates the 30-day campaign under the leadership of Chris-Lacivitas, but expresses reservations about the political direction, adding that caution must also be exercised in the relationship with parliament, as a possible boycott would only harm the opposition.
