The democratic deputy, at the same time and chairman of the investigation commission for TIMS system data, Ervin Salianji, spoke about the work of the TIMS Commission.
In this Commission, the Minister of the Interior, head of the Police and IT specialist Ervin Muço testified today. Salianji said that none of their testimonies have been completely exhausted.
He explained that the testimony of Minister Taulant Balla was postponed to May 28 due to a concern raised by the latter, about the confidential data that could be given in the testimony.
He went on to reveal what the questions were addressed to the Minister of the Interior, explaining that in his judgment there was no need for such concern.
Salianji indicated that among the questions asked were "when was the minister informed about the cyber attack and how was the situation with the TIMS system understood and the measures taken", as well as "was there any expertise or guarantee to declare that there was no there were leaks from the TIMS system".
"None of the evidence has been exhausted. The 3 witnesses took the oath, but due to unreasonable reasons in my view, they found a way not to answer. We have agreed in the commission by removing parts of ourselves to do a full investigation. It was a pre-announced meeting, if there was a problem with security clearances they could have said so.
SP half an hour before the meeting said that the commission has decided to hold the testimony behind closed doors, we had not started the meeting, they said there is a decision. As they insisted, in Mr. Balla's testimony, and I assure you, we are not looking for anything classified. They asked him to do it behind closed doors, but there is no need for a security certificate, because the law we are referring to does not provide that a certificate is needed during the investigation period. We accepted the request to hold the meeting without certificates and when the minister came there, they said despite the fact that you have accepted it, I cannot provide elements that I think may constitute a violation of the law. We again agreed that the minister should come on the 28th since he has this concern.
When we agreed on this too, SP said since this one is leaving, we don't have to call the others. We have an agenda, neither the director nor Ervin Muço said not to take it. When they found out that Muço had come to testify, he ran away.
What is the concern? For the public to understand, Balla stated on August 30 that Albania has been attacked by a cyber attack in 2022, and because of this we have increased protective measures. There is no concern that there has been a leak of TIMS. Those who have left may have criticism, he says, but no data has been leaked. The question is this, on April 9, after the investigative commission was set up, I think they made the suspension after 10 months because of the commission, is the main player. "When did you become aware of this and how did you find out about the situation with the TIMS system and what measures did you take?" If there is a secret thing here... "You stated that it is a battle and there is no concern about leaks, that Rama also said this, where are you based for giving this guarantee, do you have any expertise?", these were the questions. said Salianji to News24.
