The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has announced the organization of another protest. He stressed that the DP will continue its confrontation with the government after the recent political developments.
During the meeting of the DP parliamentary group, Berisha accused Prime Minister Rama of violence against the opposition and of escalating the situation in the country. He focused on the April 17 protest, describing the intervention against the deputies as an organized act.
According to him, the use of force against elected representatives and citizens is an attempt to intimidate political opponents and hinder public reaction.
Berisha called for the mobilization of the opposition and citizens, warning of a new protest to follow.
"We will rise up even stronger, this is our mission and this is more important than it was yesterday, the day before yesterday, or at any time. He (the prime minister) cannot close affairs that cost Albanian citizens billions. So let's prepare for the biggest uprising, we never agree with this activity.
"We must stand up on behalf of all Albanians who cannot stand up out of fear. History is made by the brave. Therefore, the next uprising must be the most powerful that Albania has ever known. After this meeting, preparations for the next protest will begin, the date will be announced soon ," said the chief democrat.
He stressed that the opposition will not retreat in the face of abuse of power. While warning of a large protest, Berisha did not provide details on the date and time when the rally would be held.
"So let's prepare for the biggest uprising... the next uprising should be the most powerful that Albania has ever known. After this meeting, preparations for the next protest begin, we will announce the date soon," he declared.
