The defeat in the May 14 elections has brought to attention the need for internal analysis and the election of the leader in the Democratic Party, which since the resignation of Lulzim Basha is in chaos and divided into two camps.
Gazment Bardhi, who is temporarily holding the two most important posts in the party after the chairman, that of the Secretary General and the head of the parliamentary group, called today the MPs and tomorrow (June 5-6) the leadership of the DP in order to organize the party.
In these meetings, in particular, the steps to be taken by DP in its revival, including the election of a new president, will be proposed.
The main discussion is expected to be precisely the opening of the race for the latter at a time when the PD leadership team is divided into 2 main positions, the first is that the DP enters the race for the president as soon as possible, finally sealing the separation with the DP and Reestablishment, which continues to be led by Sali Berisha even though the CEC did not legitimize him as chairman.
The other group requires more time for this process, first asking for the necessary time for reflection and leaving room for other negotiations to join with the Refounded DP, and further the direction through a collegial body of the two DPs until the election of the head new.
Such deputies are: Lefter Gështenja, Dashnor Sula, Ferdinand Xhaferraj, but also the vice-president of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, who has not yet expressed whether she will accept the role of deputy president.
However, this scenario seems difficult as long as none of the parties is making concrete efforts for unification, even after the deep defeat on May 14, and when Sali Berisha has declared that he has no intention of withdrawing from the leadership of the democrats who support him.
Parallel to these developments, Lulzim Basha has started the comeback tour, with meetings in every city, which is seen as his campaign to return to the head of the DP.

“Me sulmet ndaj meje po heq përgjegjësinë për humbjen e 14 majit. Mundësi e dytë është që ta ketë humbur fare që pasi shpartalloi armiqtë e jashtëm po shpartallon armiqtë brenda. Për mua është kapitull i mbyllur. Unë e kam lënë pas dhe nuk duhet të harxhojmë kohë. Të merremi me të ardhmen, e djeshmja nuk sjell asgjë të mirë”, tha Basha.
In fact, the majority of DP MPs have openly said that the biggest problem for the DP's unification is Sali Berisha, who for personal interests continues to hold the Democrats hostage to return to a powerful alternative for the next parliamentary elections.
