Taulant Balla, head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, has sent a message to the opposition, inviting it to be cooperative on important issues.
In this context, Balla said that the opposition does not have to waste time with revolutions or laying the carpet of another defeat.
"On one of the Sundays between April 15 and May 15, 2027, Albania will hold local elections. The President will decree the date of the elections.
By the last Thursday of July, we should have finalized the electoral reform commission.
"The depoliticization of the administration must be completed, and it is necessary for the election results to be announced as soon as possible," Balla said.
He further emphasized that the socialist majority's ambition includes a fundamental reform, which also foresees reducing the number of deputies from the current 140 to 121.
"The 2027 local elections will be held according to the new territorial division. The main focus remains EU integration, and the commission must work intensively. I want to make it clear that the formula of co-chairing the commission and the special commission has been approved by consensus, and we will not wait a minute to move forward with these reforms.
From Monday, January 19, until the last Thursday of 2026, the adoption of the organic law for the full functioning of the Assembly must begin and be completed.
"I don't want offices for MPs, but statuses to do their job as befits them. The Assembly and the permanent committees should be an instrument for citizens to understand the truth," he said.
