Today's plenary session has started with debates, while the reason is the inclusion of 19 draft laws in the agenda. The opposition has considered it impossible to review the 19 draft laws. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the majority, through Taulant Balla, has requested from the Speaker of the Assembly to remove 4 draft laws from the session's agenda. According to Balla, this would facilitate the Assembly's work agenda, but he said that this has nothing to do with any agreement between the parties.
The opposition's position
Luciano Boçi, on behalf of the DP parliamentary group, has requested an increase in the number of sessions in the Assembly, after an agenda loaded with 19 draft laws. He added that this majority is trying to throw ashes in the eyes of Albanians, while adding that "the Assembly is going crazy, is becoming ridiculous and is being treated like a kiosk."
"There is an attempt to make this space a space without reason, not to say crazy. Today I see that this space is becoming completely crazy. You have listed a series of important draft laws that you have summarized in a single session and this is completely without reason.
"That crazy space has an objective reason. Going crazy on purpose is ridiculous. You are making the Assembly crazy and ridiculous. Introducing 19 draft laws in one session is like throwing ashes in the eyes of Albanians. We have proposed adding sessions before. This is turning the Assembly into a kiosk, let's pass another draft law. If we continue like this, this makes no sense. Add sessions, reflect," said Boçi.
MP Jorida Tabaku also requested that amendments to the Criminal Code be removed from the Assembly's agenda. Tabaku said that such laws, which have been criticized even by the European Union, cannot be passed for approval without concluding discussions in parliamentary committees.
The majority position
The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, has proposed postponing the vote on four draft laws for one week.
"You might think we have made an agreement, but based on the regulations, I would request a one-week review of the four draft laws. I request the first postponement at the proposal of my colleagues, as they are draft laws that need to be coordinated with the European Commission," Balla said.
He explained that the postponement will include the draft law on some additions to the control of substances used for the manufacture of narcotics, the draft law on protection from discrimination, as well as two other draft laws. According to Balla, the postponement will help in a more complete review of legal acts and in facilitating the agenda of the parliamentary session.
