
As many MPs of the opposition have requested the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama in the Assembly today while the changes to the Electoral Code are being discussed, the head of the government has other plans on his agenda.
Today, Rama has left behind the country's political issues and is in Paris, where President Emmanuel Macron held a summit within the framework of the Olympic Games.
Leaders participating in this summit unveiled plans to invest billions of euros to finance sports initiatives to accelerate sustainable development.
"The synergy of our actions and everything we can do together with the sports movement is absolutely essential. Thank you for your mobilization, the Olympic Games are a way to highlight what we need to do and to launch new initiatives thanks to of all the donations that have been mobilized for the development of Africa, Latin America and the Pacific. I thank you for your daily commitment in this direction," said Macron.
Leaders participating in this summit unveiled plans to invest billions of euros to finance sports initiatives that would accelerate sustainable development. A coalition of banks pledged to invest 10 billion euros worldwide in various sports infrastructures by 2030. The French Development Agency will invest 500 million euros in this direction.
The summit was an opportunity to draw the attention of world leaders to efforts against racism, racial discrimination in sports as well as hate speech and xenophobia. The Olympic Games in Paris will continue until August 11.
