In Friday's parliamentary session, the amendments to the Electoral Code are being discussed.
Democratic deputy Asllan Dogjani had his proposal that the voting be secret. According to him, many deputies of the majority want to vote in secret as they are afraid to react regarding these changes.
"I requested and made a proposal precisely for the law that deals with changes in the Electoral Code, so that the voting at the end becomes secret. From the conversations I had with the opposition MPs and mainly the majority, some of them have expressed fear and the inability to react regarding these changes. This is exactly why they are asking for a secret vote so that Edi Rama does not take his deputies hostage, does not take democracy hostage and does not take Albania hostage. I propose that the voting be secret", said Dogjani.
Deputy Flutura Açka, who left the DP parliamentary group a day ago, had a different opinion. She said that voting should be open so that citizens can see who is selling their right to a pure democracy.
"I am against the proposal to have a closed vote. Voting should be open for Albanians to know, if you want to pass the law, pass it. Albanians should know who is selling their right, who is selling their aspiration for a pure democracy. So keep it open for those who have undertaken to join the vote with you against the Albanians", said Açka.
While the other democratic deputy, Dashnor Sula, requested the suspension of the session until the participation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. According to him, today's agreement is a "marriage" between SP and DP.
"Today is an extremely special day. A day celebrating the marriage between SP and PD. I think that there is no logic and morality that on this so holy, so important day, the government cabinet is missing, the prime minister is missing, the deputies are missing, the witnesses of this wedding ceremony are missing. Therefore, in my capacity as the leader of this very important session, I would ask that the session be interrupted for a few minutes, maybe even a few hours, that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, who is our "father" and all the deputies, come to us and do a serious debate that is not a simple discussion", said Sula.
