The new Minister of Finance and Economy, Ervin Mete, held his first official meeting after being appointed by Rama as a member of the government cabinet.
He received in an official meeting the Manager of the World Bank for Albania, Emanuel Salinas, during which he appreciated the cooperation so far with the World Bank and the continuous support that the WB has given and is giving to our country in the process of reforms towards European integration and economic development .
For his part, Salinas expressed the readiness of the World Bank to continue cooperation and support for Albania.
During the meeting, it was discussed about the importance of the Berlin Process for the countries of the Western Balkans, within which on September 26, the "Forum of Ministers of Economy" will be held in Tirana, and the need to push the Berlin process forward was emphasized. as a very good opportunity for support and economic development of the countries of the region, towards integration in the European Union.
The World Bank was engaged in supporting projects in trade and transport, in Albania and in other countries of the Western Balkans, and another area where the World Bank will offer its support and assistance is related to payment systems.
To date, the World Bank has offered Albania over 2.4 billion USD in financing, where the largest share is budget support with 42.23%, followed by investments in the transport sector with 13.77%, in the energy sector with 9.65%, the supply of water and sewage with 7.86% and others.
