Activist Adriatik Lapaj, who presented the "Albania becomes" movement yesterday, spoke today about the focus, principles and goals of this movement.
Invited to the show "Open" on News24, Lapaj focused on the situation in the country with depopulation, as he said that today Albania is a republic of death.
"Albania has more deaths than births in 2022. Today this is a republic of death. More people die than are born. Excluding Tirana, 9 counties in the country have more deaths than births. If we include the fact that 5 Albanians leave this country every hour, we reach a figure that leads this country to total depopulation in the next 20 years. These are facts, I referred to INSTAT," he said.
Explaining the reasons why this movement does not turn into a political party today, Lapaj emphasized that a career in politics is not a goal in itself, but what we are doing is a necessity. He added that if we make political parties with ideology today, we will exclude one or the other.
"There is a procedure, there is a rule, there is a hierarchy of doing things. It doesn't start at zh-ja, but from a-ja. It is us now that I alone cannot change it, it is the team, it is the group and the great popular will must be created. We are giving the country the opportunity to open the debate and we are delaying the process. On the way, once the roads are exhausted, of course the civic will will create an avalanche that I believe will not stop. These are things that will happen, but the issue is time, we don't know if it will be sooner or later.
We are not keeping people waiting. We don't want to prejudice anyone. Are there socialists who want the opening of the race, who want the approval of a law on referendums, are there socialists who want the depoliticization of the election administration, I believe there are. Are there right-wingers who want the same things, I believe there are. If we make political parties with ideology today, we will exclude one or the other. No, we should not build walls at this stage. We must all be together, socialists, democrats, with parties, without parties, as far as these things are concerned, because these are points that belong to everyone", said Lapaj.
He added that "after we as a society have imposed the rules of the game, the opening of the competition, referendums as a concept, the vote of immigrants, the depoliticization of the electoral administration, then everyone should run in their own direction and maybe the socialists will return and vote again for the socialists, the democrats they return there". "Perhaps there is a need for a new party tomorrow that succeeds in gathering all these people and making another performance", said Lapaj.
