The list of new members of the National Council is published. Out of 49 deputies, Basha left only 30 of them as members. All those who spent time with Berisha have also left...
Lulzim Basha removed all those who opposed him from the National Council. Yesterday, the National Assembly convened and elections were held for new members of the National Council. After counting the votes, today the PD has published the list and it is noticeable that all the supporters of Berisha have left.
From an observation of the " Pamphlet ", it appears that Basha has removed some well-known names. At the top of the list is Agron Kulicaj. In the elections of July 18, 2021, Basha included him as a member, but he is missing from today's list. Kulicaj is known as Berisha's most loyal man, and Basha has cleared him. He also removed all the former MPs who supported Berisha, such as Bumçi, Pollo, Oketa, Strazmiri, etc.
One name that stands out is that of Glauk Olldashi, the son of the late Sokol Olldashi, who competed with Basha for the head of the Democratic Party. Even Glauku has positioned himself alongside Berisha and Basha has replaced him. There are also names like Ardian Turku, Aurel Bylykbashi, Julian Deda, or Osman Mula, who are no longer members of the National Council.
The interesting thing is that DP now has 3 National Councils. On one side is Berisha, who has held elections and claims to have his own members of the Council. We have Basha, who came out with a new council today. Meanwhile, it is the group of Bardhi and some deputies, who know the council of July 2021. The final test will be the court. Basha must take the changes to court and if they are approved, then there are no more discussions.
The other element is that Basha has replaced the current MPs who are on Berisha's side. According to the statute, deputies are automatically members of the National Council, but Basha says that only 30 names are members. Meanwhile, in the National Council of 2021 there were a total of 49. So there are 19 excluded.
Basha also declared himself the chairman of the parliamentary group and now it remains to be seen how the Assembly will act. The parliamentary session starts tomorrow and the position of the democratic deputies is interesting.
