Lulzim Basha, political leader of the "Euroatlantic" coalition, during a conversation with followers on social media, was asked why he betrayed Sali Berisha.
Basha stressed that he has never betrayed the Democratic Party, adding that he has contributed decisively to its strengthening. He mentioned his successes, such as winning 7 mandates in 2005 and 2009, and his commitment in the battle against Edi Rama. According to him, the sacrifices for the DP have been great and he has made difficult decisions to protect the interests of the Democrats, such as the decision in 2021 to stand by the US.
According to him, Sali Berisha today pays 6 million dollars for a visa to go to America, while if he had followed the path he himself promised of not involving the DP in the conflict with the US, he would be in power today.
Basha also answered the question about his relationship with Edi Rama. He emphasized that the prime minister is involved in a scandal with McGonigal, who has been convicted of corruption. According to him, Rama has used everything to fight the opposition, while he himself has remained clean and without compromising the principles and interests of citizens.
Basha said that the vote for the criminal amnesty, which he himself opposed, showed who is on Rama's side, while some Democratic MPs voted to support Rama's corrupt people. He called for the vote for the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, number 4, on May 11, to be an opportunity to continue the fight against corruption and to protect the interests of citizens.

Basha: Gjovalin, let's take it one by one because you have two questions:
You should know that my heads were not made by Sali Berisha, my mother and father were made by me. So, if you are talking about the contribution to the democratic party, without my contribution, Sali Berisha would not have risen to where he was in 2005 or in 2009 when I brought 7 mandates from Elbasan, or in the direct battle with Edi Rama, in 2011. And you should know that not only have I not betrayed your sacrifice, your effort, but precisely to save that sacrifice I have made the most difficult decisions even towards myself because true leadership is when you sacrifice yourself and not others. Sacrificing the democratic party and the democrats for your own sake and then claiming to be a savior is a deception. What did I do? I asked that the Democratic Party, the Democrats continue to be on the side of the United States of America because only in this way could a successful confrontation with the Edi Rama regime and a victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections be guaranteed. Sali Berisha told you that this is not true, but today he paid 6 million dollars for a Gjovalin visa, while if he had followed the path he himself promised of not involving the Democratic Party in the conflict with the United States of America and allowing the Democratic Party to continue its confrontation with Edi Rama, the Democratic Party would be in power or very close to power and his troubles would not need expensive bills, 6 million dollars for an American visa. Basha: Gjovalin, Edi Rama was caught red-handed with his friend McGonigal, trying to make a hole in me, the leader of the opposition. This is proven today. This is proven by American justice. Gjovalin, McGonigal is in prison, convicted of corruption for what he did against the leader of the opposition, against the rival for prime minister Lulzim Basha. This is the truth about my confidentiality with Edi Rama. All along, he has done everything to fight me with the dirtiest means, while I have continued to serve you without compromising a single minute, any of your principles, or values or interests, for personal interests. Who collaborates with Edi Rama for personal interests, against your interests, was shown by the vote in parliament to release the corrupt, while the protesters of the democratic party were still being held in prison or under criminal prosecution.
