MP Marjana Koçeku was absent from today's plenary session, a few days after publicly declaring that she is no longer part of the Socialist Party.
In her place in the Assembly hall is the MP for Vlora, Briseida Çakërri, a move that has attracted attention amid recent political developments related to Koçek.
Since last week's plenary session, the MP has not made any public appearances and has also been absent from parliamentary committee meetings, avoiding her institutional activity.
On Sunday, Koçeku declared that she was no longer part of the Socialist Party. Responding to voices demanding that she surrender her mandate, she floated the idea of dissolving Parliament and challenged her political opponents, declaring that she would defeat them in Tirana.
Meanwhile, the MP has stopped communicating with the media and is not responding to journalists. Sources close to the Socialists indicate that even the SP parliamentary group has not been able to contact her.
So far, Koçek has not filed any official request to leave the socialist parliamentary group or to continue her mandate as an independent MP.
