The plenary session of the Assembly was accompanied by tensions and verbal clashes between majority and opposition MPs.
During the debate that was taking place between the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and the leader of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, Democratic MP Flamur Noka erupted in insults towards the latter.
Noka was heard addressing Balla with insulting words and serious accusations, saying: "You're going to hell, you're a murderer, a trafficker."
The clash occurred at a time when the Parliament was discussing the protests that have been taking place in Tirana for more than two weeks against the government and the political class.
Moments earlier, Taulant Balla had responded to Sali Berisha, stating that the leader of the Democratic Party is the last person who can speak on behalf of the protesters. He challenged Berisha to join the protests in the square.
Balla said that he contributed to one of the protesters' demands, referring to the complaint he filed against Berisha in the justice system.
"The last person in this room who can speak on behalf of the protesters is this pelican here. If you want to comply, I challenge you, Sali Berisha, to go to the protest this afternoon. Can you go to the protest? Try it, if you can," Balla said.
He added that the protesters are also demanding Berisha's imprisonment and that he himself has filed a complaint against him, inviting justice institutions to investigate.
Further, the head of the SP Parliamentary Group accused Berisha of changing his stance on the protests, recalling that he had initially criticized them, while now, according to him, he is trying to present himself as a representative of the protesters.
