The head of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, spoke today about the arrest of Sali Berisha during a conference with journalists to whom he expressed personal regret.
The deputy of the Democratic Party, Luciano Boçi, vice-president from the ranks of Reestablishment, responded directly from the show on 'News 24', who said that Basha and his supporters have not only expressed excitement for Berisha's arrest, but have crossed a moral line by mentioning the daughter.
He commented on Basha's statements about the electoral reform, stressing that his representatives have never convened the commission in two years.
"Only once did he mention Edi Rama, who said he benefited from the telenovela situation, but without explaining what role Mr. Basha himself had assigned to Edi Rama in this alleged telenovela. We didn't make soap operas. We have fought strong political battles in Parliament and outside Parliament, for democratic standards. Then, the characters of the Albanian soap operas know well who they are. That part of regret is like post-harvest coffee or crocodile tears.
It is a standard of political behavior that has been installed in Albania and is not compatible with the positions it has held. They attacked not only Mr. Berisha, they expressed their excitement for the arrest of Mr. Berisha. They also crossed moral boundaries, they dealt with his daughter, Argita Malltez and his son-in-law. These are the moral and professional responsibilities of people.
Basha has not made an opposition and does not promise to make an opposition. Who prevented this gentleman from meeting the commission with his own representatives, even though not legitimate. Open lists are not new, and if there is anyone who is afraid of the open list, it is his group, since their votes are equal to two Reestablishment MPs. If there is a politician who is afraid of the vetting, I am sorry it is Mr. Basha because there was a long court process for affairs that other deputies did not have" , said Boçi.
