The Chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, has stated that the Justice Reform needs an evaluation and review. He said that through some decisions, the new judiciary has violated the law and the Constitution.
Mediu also added that one cannot gain public credibility just because some politicians are being prosecuted. He also said that justice has been used to attack the authority of the opposition, as according to Mediu, happened before the May 11 elections.
"I think it's an assessment, before we go to the review. To actually assess whether we have an independent and functional justice system or not. Independent and functional justice is guaranteed by the integrity of the people who are in this system. And we also need to look at the organization and functioning of the justice system, to provide justice to citizens.
Even the fact that justice is used in violation of the constitution in the criminal procedure code as a hunt against the authority of the opposition as happened before the elections, to create an idea that the problem is the opposition and not the government that has been in power for almost 14 years, is something that definitely needs to be reviewed. It is not possible to gain credibility by prosecuting politicians and on the other hand violating the constitution and the law , "said Mediu, among other things, in a live broadcast for 'Ditari i Pasdites' on A2 CNN.
