The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to the protests that have been taking place in Tirana and other cities in the country for 13 days, describing them as a civic and youth movement against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During a communication on social networks, Berisha said that the protests arose as a reaction to the events in Zvërnec and the lack of transparency, but according to him, they have transformed into a broader movement against what he called an "autocratic regime."
He added that the youth protests are a direct confrontation with the government.
"For 13 days, Tirana and Albania have been experiencing the most extraordinary, unprecedented, and magnificent civic youth movement in their history. This movement is in fact the most powerful movement that is confronting the authoritarian dictatorship of Edi Rama, his narco-state," said the leader of the Democratic Party.
Berisha accused the government of election manipulation, corruption, and the departure of young people from the country, while saying that the protests are taking place in the name of an Albania with more opportunities and dignity.
"This powerful civic protest is a protest blessed by God. Albanian youth stood up for all their brothers, sisters, peers who took the dirt roads and their youthful, individual and family dream, because Albania did not give them shelter for their dream," he said.
At the end of the statement, Berisha called on democrats and citizens to join and support the protests.
"In conclusion, I call on every democrat, every voter, every citizen who has voted and is voting for the DP, but also every Albanian who loves this country, who wants to live with dignity in this country and for his children to continue their dream in this country, to support every protest. They need everyone's support. No pretext has the right to be used for not supporting them," Berisha declared.
During his speech, the leader of the Democratic Party also mocked the activity organized the day before by the Socialist Party on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its founding, describing it as an "elegy".
“Qytetare dhe qytetarë, demokrate e demokratë që ndiqni këtë bisedë, përsëri një mirënjohje të pakufishme ndaj jush për mbështetjen, kurajën, guximin që dëshmuat këto pesë vite në mbështetje të kauzës që unë mbrojta. Të Sali Berishës dhe betejës së tij për dinjitetin njerëzor. Unë dua t’u garantoj ju, t’u siguroj secilin prej jush se unë ndërmora këtë betejë më të vështirën e jetës sime në disa aspekte, por e ndërmora atë për të mbrojtur si dinjitetin tim, dhe dinjitetin e atyre miliona shqiptarëve, të cilët në dekada kishin votuar Sali Berishën më shumë se çdo politikan tjetër të këtij vendi. Në këtë kuadër unë besoj se bëra detyrën time si njëri prej jush.
Dhe për ta mbyllur këtë, duke falënderuar edhe njëherë përzemërsisht administratën e presidentit Trump dhe sekretarin Rubio për korrigjimin që i bënë një vendimi fund e krye të padrejtë, u ftoj të mobilizojmë të gjithë energjitë tona, të bashkohemi në misionin tonë të madh, rikthimin e votës së lirë të shqiptarëve dhe të ardhmes së merituar për Shqipërinë dhe shqiptarët. Të dashur miq, prej 13 ditësh, Tirana dhe Shqipëria po njohin lëvizjen rinore qytetare më të jashtëzakonshme, më të paprecedent, më madhështore në historinë e tyre.
Kjo lëvizje në thelb, në esencë, e cila filloi për shkaqe dhe ndjeshmëri qoftë të drejtash njeriu, zvarritja e banorit në Zvërnec në mënyrë shtazore, mungesa e plotë e transparencës për çdo gjë, për çdo zhvillim në atë vend dhe telat me gjemba, kjo lëvizje në fakt është lëvizja më e fuqishme që po përballet me diktaturën autoritare të Edi Ramës, narkoshtetin e tij. Kjo lëvizje që ka në brendinë e vet guximin më të madh të kombit shqiptar, mbartës i të cilit janë të rinjtë shqiptarë.
Ka në brendinë e vet ndërgjegjen më të lartë kombëtare për t’u cliruar nga një regjim autokratik, i cili ka shndërruar zgjedhjet në farsë zgjedhore.
I cili arreston në vitin elektoral krerët e opozitës njëlloj si Zajedi i Tunizisë.
I cili ka shndërruar administratën në terroristë politikë të votës së shqiptarëve.
I cili ka vjedhur me organizatën e tij kriminale miliarda, miliarda euro dhe mund të jetë sot me pasuri përrallore të fshehura.
Mos harroni një gjë se një raport i OSBE deklaroi në vitin 2014 se Edi Rama ka të fshehura në bankat offshore 200 milionë euro, dhe kjo të siguruara të gjitha si kryetar bashkie me leje ndërtimi etj, imagjinoni tani kur ai vendosi në pjatë të gjithë Shqipërinë se sa ka.
Imagjinoni! Imagjinoni tani se sa merr ai vetëm me Portin e Durrësit, i cili është një pasuri publike e barabartë me 4 miliardë euro dhe e shndërron në Dubai Sitin e 1001 netëve të tij.
Imagine how much he has taken with the roads he builds at prices 6 to 10 times higher than in the EU. How much he has plundered with his AKSHI, where projects are disbursed to the wife's brother-in-law 100 percent when the works are zero or close to zero. This powerful civic protest is a protest blessed by God. Albanian youth stood up for all their brothers, sisters, peers who took away the dirt roads and their youthful, individual and family dream, because Albania did not give them shelter for their dream. The young men and women of Albania are protesting today because schools have been demolished and there is a terrible, shameful decline in education. Because their parents receive the most ridiculous pensions or the lowest salaries in Europe. Because Albania's hospitals are not third-world, but fourth-world hospitals with the most basic deficiencies. That all these policies actually constitute a genuine, silent genocide of this government towards Albanians. In conclusion, I call on every democrat, every voter, every citizen who has voted and votes for the DP, but also every Albanian who loves this country, who wants to live with dignity in this country and his children to continue their dream in this country, to support every protest. They need everyone's support. No pretext has the right to be used for not supporting them," said Berisha.
