Ibrahim Hasan, part of the technical staff of the Egyptian national team and brother of coach Hosam Hasan, has commented on the match against Argentina in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking to Egyptian television "Sada al-Balad", Hasan expressed confidence ahead of the challenge, highlighting the strength of his team and the role of Mohamed Salah.
"They have Messi, but we have Mohamed Salah and 26 Messis at our disposal. We hope that God will reward us," he said.
The Egyptian national team assistant emphasized that the team is not focused on the figure of Lionel Messi, but only on its own performance on the field.
"We don't see Messi, we always tell the players to go out and play without paying attention to the opponent," he declared.
He further emphasized that Egypt will treat this challenge like any other match, regardless of the name of the opponent.
"Will we play against Messi? We didn't even think about it. We are focused on the Egyptian national team. We go out to fight in every match, whether it's Messi or any other rival. We have Mohamed Salah and also a group of high-level players," said Hasan.
Finally, Hasan focused on Egypt's journey to the World Cup, emphasizing that the team's objective was not just to participate, but to advance as far as possible in the tournament.
"From day one we told the players that it's not just about participation. Our goal is to go as far as possible in the tournament," he concluded.
