Prime Minister Edi Rama, from the ceremony of honoring Ali Ahmeti as an Honorary Citizen in the City Council of Tirana, did not spare a comment about the interventions in the last presidential elections in North Macedonia and the political position of the Albanians.
The Prime Minister said that today the Albanians would not be on their best day in the history of North Macedonia, so much so that they would allow themselves to ignore the risk of a fight for more power, thus underestimating the possibility of political weakening of Albanian factor.
Rama did not dwell too much on this matter, saying that he does not want his opinion on this point to be commented on as an interference in the elections in North Macedonia. This comment by Prime Minister Rama looks like a 'thorn' for the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who has been accused of interfering in the elections that were held in Macedonia for the new President.
"The Albanians of North Macedonia would not be today in their best day in the history of that country, nor would they have such a dynamic democratic pluralism within the perimeter of the life of the Albanian parties, that they would allow themselves to be ignored of the risk of drowning in the water spoon of the fight for more power, underestimating the real possibility of the political weakening of the Albanian factor. This may be the case, but this is not the moment to elaborate further on what you said because I do not in any way want a full expression of my opinion today to be read as interference in the election campaign of the neighboring country, where we have no intention to influence the decision-making of the voters of that country, even the Albanians", said Rama.
Rama further had a message for all Albanians, telling them that they must choose the interest of North Macedonia and protect their position from external influences that aim at instability and the destruction of Albanian achievements.
"I tell you to see only North Macedonia, which today more than ever is also theirs, side by side with their fellow Macedonian citizens and with all the minorities living in that Republic and defend their Republic as well as the position of them as Albanians from foreign influences which aim at things that have nothing to do with the stability and well-being of the neighboring state and which in no case can bring the Albanians anything better than what they have achieved, but on the contrary they can cause them damage for what they have achieved", said Rama.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has been widely accused in the media of interfering in the Macedonian presidential elections, while analysts have commented on Kurti's positions as a move to attack Ali Ahmet's position in Macedonia and Verui.
