Chaos in the Assembly

After the USA, even the distant Germans: We do not intervene to resolve the political conflict...

Among the few times in the history of Albanian politics, international partners have decided not to get involved in the internal political conflict.

For 30 years in Albania, there has been a clash between the majority and the opposition, and those who put an end to the conflict were the internationals, especially the American and German partners.

In 2017, they were the ones who negotiated and ended the tent raised by Lulzim Basha. They have several times put an end to the parliamentary boycott by the opposition. Their calls have brought political leaders to the table for many reforms, even through threats.

But it seems that this time the situation is different. The opposition is divided into 3-4 groups and this has put the internationals in a dilemma. They don't want to stand by and for that reason they don't intervene at all.

Since Berisha claimed to be the head of the Democratic Party, foreign ambassadors have not had any meetings with representatives of the opposition. The US envoy to our country has held meetings with many political representatives, but not with those who claim to have the reins of the DP.

But it seems that the Germans have also left the opposition in the mud. The German CDU has always been described as the strongest allied party of the DP. The Germans have historically supported it, but this time they don't want to get involved.

The Ambassador of Germany to Albania, Karl Bergner, was the next guest on the podcast "Inside Albania" by journalist Alice Taylor. He spoke about the current political situation, where he asked for the most constructive opposition, but made it clear that they will not interfere in the internal political conflict.

The role of the parties, of the Parliament as a controller of the Government is very important. We want to see a strong opposition that can play this role and be a counterweight to the Government. In particular, a constructive opposition is needed, which can provide alternatives to the Government's positions where necessary, if there are other problems that must be addressed within the framework of governance.

So, to play a constructive role. This is what we want to see. We, as the German Government, will naturally not interfere in Albanian politics. We support democracy and want Albanian citizens and politicians to take responsibility. It would be better if the opposition was united and strong, to be a real counterweight. I think this would also be good for the Government," Bergner said.

It seems that the internationals have run out of patience with this situation. Every year conflicts, chaos and tension. Now the policy will be tested if it will pass this situation. /Pamphlet
