The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared that in the 2022 election there was another path, the creation of a new political force.
Berisha said that he did not choose this path because, according to him, it was unacceptable for the DP to surrender to its enemies.
He added that he chose to unite the Democrats, according to him, as a countermeasure to the government's attempt to eliminate the Democratic Party.
"Of course, my 333 days under house arrest were a very precious time. And I didn't have a project that I would implement. Again, with Edi Rama, the opposition doesn't win the elections.
But I would implement it because I had a project. Now of course I don't think it was a mistake that we joined. The union was, as you yourself saw, a response to that attempt to eliminate the DP, by the bastard of the dictatorship's executioners such as Edi Rama. Rama, after Soros, did everything to archive me in politics. He rushed to control the DP at all costs and with the help of Soros' servants.
So that battle was not simple, it was a battle for the existence of the DP. Sali Berisha had another new path, he founded a new political force. But it was not acceptable for the DP to surrender to the enemies.
"Political terror against the opposition is not a moment of encouragement for citizens, but a moment of terror. In this context, efforts for unity were more appropriate and undoubtedly had a price. But I cannot accept that the DP would be transformed into a party outside the ideals of the Democrats ," said the leader of the democrats.
