Member of the DP National Council, Ilir Alimehmeti, stated that the civic protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office is being supported by citizens with different political beliefs, including representatives of the Socialist Party.
Alimehmeti said that there are also directors of the Municipality of Tirana in the protest, while a reflection process has begun within the ranks of the Socialists.
Alimehmeti added that the protest has a clear political purpose, while emphasizing that reflection should also take place within the Democratic Party.
"All strata, all currents are present, whether political, close to politics, or not political. There are those from the Socialist Party, there are directors of the Tirana Municipality. There are from the DP, from the 'Mundësia' Party, 'Shqipëria Bëhet', 'Lëvizja Bashkë', so there is a variety. The protest has a common denominator which is the resignation of Edi Rama. Among the 5 demands that have been made is the resignation of Rama and the 4 laws. I support them and I am present at the protest. Demanding the resignation of the prime minister is definitely a political demand. In the SP, reflection has begun at the level of deputies, at the level of directors, I can even tell them by name that they are publicly in the square, they have no problem being photographed. There must definitely be reflection in the DP", Alimehmeti said on A2 CNN.
He added that, despite having his own opinions about the protest, he supports it because, according to him, this is a demand of the citizens.
"I have my own thoughts about the protest, but I support it. Why? Because the people ask me to. At the end of the day, politicians have to do what the people want. There should be elections, they may not want to be represented politically, they want to support whoever they want to support, but whoever wins is not given the right to abuse," he continued.
