The governments of the countries invited by US President Donald Trump to join his "Peace Board" initiative reacted very cautiously to this call.
Despite the fact that among the invited countries were countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Australia, Jordan, Greece, Cyprus, Pakistan, Canada, Turkey, Egypt, Paraguay, Argentina, Qatar, Albania and India, only the governments of the two countries expressed enthusiasm for Trump's invitation. Other governments seemed reluctant to make public statements, leaving officials to express concerns anonymously, partly because this Board aims to replace the UN.
The first was Hungary, whose leader is a close Trump ally, which gave a clear acceptance in response to the invitation that has been sent to about 60 nations.
Second, Albania with Prime Minister Edi Rama, who after months of silence and fear of some 'punishment' from across the Ocean, saw a 'light of hope' in that invitation and rushed to publish it on social networks and distribute it to the media close to him, before reading it to the end.
With the government mired in corruption scandals and the country increasingly being run by criminal groups, Rama saw Trump's invitation as a 'miracle from heaven' and his apparent elation shows that the prime minister thinks he can use this opportunity to escape the consequences of his actions during four terms in office.
Given Donald Trump's policy that 'nothing is free', there is only one possibility how Rama could benefit from this invitation, which came to him as a gift from his friend Tony Blair.
The option is one that has been discussed before: Albania could offer to take in Palestinian refugees from Gaza. When Trump proposed depopulation of Gaza, Albania was among the countries rumored to be able to house the expelled Palestinians.
The basis for doubting this idea is strengthened when you look at the National Contingency Plan for Mixed Migration Flows for the years 2026–2028. This plan of the Albanian government foresees the establishment of immigrant centers in the regions of Korça, Gjirokastra and Vlora, with capacities ranging from 100 to 410 beds each, at least 20 centers. This means that, in an attempt to befriend Trump, Rama will be ready to turn the country into a refugee camp.
Trump e ta lërë me kaq aventurën diplomatike.
Pse mundoheni me mish e shpirt ne zhvleresimin e kesaj ftese? Nuk mund ta ulni Ramen. Po Berisha me ato $6 milion a beri ndonje gje?
Edi Rama përball Donald Tramp. Nesër kjo meme do ju shpërndahet patronazhistëve me dixhiturën:"Për gjithë skeptikët, e kalova oqeanin dhe u futa brënda Shtëpisë Së Bardhë".
