The opposition will once again stage a national protest on Saturday, January 24. While calling on citizens to unite, Democratic MP Klevis Balliu declared that this rally will not be like the others, but will mark the beginning of a new phase of uninterrupted action.
According to him, the opposition's focus is now on "resistance," a concept that implies not a single protest, but the continuation of the battle against the government.
Balliu emphasized that the new strategy aims to avoid the mistakes of the past, where opposition actions were prematurely terminated.
"The opposition's action is focused on resistance. This means the continuation of the protest, the continuation of the opposition action to not be left half-hearted," he declared, describing the protest as a "no-holds-barred action against theft and corruption."
While responding to criticism over the effectiveness of the protests, the Democratic MP argued that the opposition's cause is just and the fight is necessary in the face of government scandals.
Balliu denounced that in Albania, businessmen are taken hostage and tortured to withdraw complaints about tenders, so that relatives of those in power can win them.
According to him, only the Democratic Party has the ability to wage a long and consistent battle.
"To do that, you have to have loyalists with you, people who believe in that cause, you have to have missionaries with you ," the DP MP told "Syri TV", adding that it is precisely these "missionaries" who will guarantee that the action does not stop until the goal is achieved, the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Regarding the opposition camp, the MP was blunt, stating that some political actors are not true oppositionists. According to him, they simply deceived voters to get votes and secure a seat in parliament, where they then remain silent.
"These people took away opposition votes by deceiving people that they are the opposition. What kind of opposition are these people?" he said, among other things.
