Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that he had nothing to do with the declaration of Sali Berisha as persona non grata. During a television interview, Rama said that the theories that he influenced with Soros about the declaration of the opposition leader as persona non grata are nonsense, as America cannot be bought.
The Prime Minister says that all the stories about influence through "McGonigal" are absurd. Rama further added that Berisha knows very well where the "non-grata" came from.
" You know the swamp owl well. He himself doesn't believe what he says. He knows very well where he got what he got. He knows that George Soros and I have nothing to do with it. He has clung to that narrative because it means something. To think that a prime minister of a country like Albania, or anyone, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, can influence a single signature from the Secretary of State, means not knowing America. If the USA were a country that could be taken by the nose by the political interests of a country there, or anyone's money, they would not be a world superpower. How much money does the world have and how much oil does it have, how much gold and dictators does the world have, that would have put America in their pockets? They have not been able to influence America in any way. Where can you buy America with money? You take the money and it will rip your head off. Then the stories are nonsense, Soros, McGonigal, they are nonsense, they are not "It works like this. The owl knows very well where it came from, it is clear in everything. He cannot tell where it came from ," said Rama.
Rama further expressed surprise at the DP's $6 million lobbying in the US, a figure he considers very high. The Prime Minister added that Basha was made a mess for a much smaller lobbying. In his perspective, Rama sees that the DP's lobbying in the US will produce political costs for the party itself, according to him this contract will turn into a boomerang for the Democrats.
"It's a staggering amount. 6 million dollars is a lot. Luli got all that gurgling for 500 thousand. 6 million! What do you mean? Some patriots decide to help the SP and give 6 million? Blendi Klosi signs but I have no connection? That contract will be a big boomerang not only here but also in the US. Politically I say that legally I don't know. Asked about the arrests of officials for corruption, Prime Minister Rama said that the Socialist Party does not protect anyone in facing justice. Rama emphasized that relations with justice are different from those of 2011, when the country was led by the "Berisha" government.
" People were killed on the boulevard, the Prosecutor General was unable to question three people. He became a defender of a crime in which he himself had a hand. We can maintain the position we have maintained. We are not anyone's law firm. Today, one of the things we are discussing with the EU is that we are the first in the region in the integrity of public procurement. We have 80 points, the others are below ," said the Prime Minister.
Rama also spoke about the failure of the waste management strategy, specifically the incinerators, which resulted in a corrupt affair, for which several officials have been arrested, while in Sharra there is an emergency and today waste is even thrown into rivers. The Prime Minister justified himself by saying that the situation is made more difficult by the fact that Sharra is under sequestration.

What I was telling you, the contracts with these structures have a price that is ridiculous in relation to the real price that is paid in every country in Europe. The problem there, what has happened between the parties outside the law. The prosecution is investigating this. The situation is made more difficult by the fact that Sharra is under seizure. Sharra is administered by the agency for seized assets. We cannot do anything more than that. We administer what is there. It must be done with investments. It must be taken out of their hands and the court will take it away, not us. It is administered by the state. They are not paid, the payments are made to continue the work by the state agency.
