The Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy, Nancy VanHorn.
VanHorn congratulated Speaker Spiropali on the occasion of her election as Speaker of the Assembly and expressed her willingness to continue the successful cooperation between the Assembly and the US Embassy, to support Albania's development, democratization, consolidation of institutions and Euro-Atlantic integration.
President Spiropali congratulated the Commissioner, VanHorn, for her mission in Albania and introduced her to some of the priorities of the work of the Assembly and of the new parliamentary session.
Speaker Spiropali underlined that in her role as Speaker of the Assembly, she will be guided by the Constitution, laws, maximum efforts for consensus, rationality, constructiveness and transparency, cooperating closely with all parliamentary groups and the opposition.
The President of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali, and the Charge d'Affaires, Nancy VanHorn, also discussed the strategic partnership between Albania and the USA, the expansion of economic cooperation and American investments in Albania, the role of the Assembly in deepening the reforms, especially the reform in justice and strengthening of the rule of law, the advancement of the EU membership process, the strengthening of independent institutions, cooperation with civil society and citizens.
