Former Foreign Minister of Albania, Ditmir Bushati, has reacted to the recent developments in Kosovo with the dissolution of the Parliament and new elections.
According to Bushati, the process of electing the President requires a broad political compromise and it remains to be seen whether the new Parliament will succeed.
"The Kosovo Parliament has failed to elect a president. Kosovo will go to another early election, no later than 45 days. It remains to be seen the composition of the next parliament and whether it will be able to elect a president. A process that requires a broad political compromise," Bushati wrote in a post on X.
Meanwhile, former president Vjosa Osmani reacted today through a video published on Facebook in which she called on the people of Kosovo to join in a "mission" to "open the roads closed by injustice."
Osmani called yesterday's failure of the Assembly to elect the president and consequently sending it to new elections "a difficult night for Kosovo."
"Last night was a difficult night for Kosovo, but this people have known how to rise even from the most difficult moments. The moment has come for us to give love for our country, rather than with propaganda, hatred and division, and instilling fear. Where there is hatred, we must bring only love for each other and our country. Where there is fear, we must bring hope, where there is propaganda and slander, we must defend the truth and only the truth. Let us unite in this mission because the roads that are closed by injustice are always opened by the people," says Osmani.
During the two days that the sessions were held (April 27-28), the opposition continuously boycotted, causing only Vetëvendosje deputies to remain in the hall and failing to meet the required quorum. There should have been at least 80 deputies in the hall, while there were 64.
