The head of the "Albania Becomes" Initiative, Adriatik Lapaj, in a public statement after the May 11 elections, said that although they received over 64 thousand votes, the system denied them the deserved representation of 6-7 MPs.
He confirmed that the Movement will be represented with one mandate in the Assembly, while the rest of the battle will continue on the streets. “Politically, we will see each other on the streets of the homeland,” Lapaj emphasized.
" Dear citizens, dear supporters of the 'Albania Becomes' Movement, who in the May 11 elections gave us over 64 thousand valid votes, ranking us the third political force in these elections. As you have proven, based on the number of votes, the Movement should have represented you in this legislature, with at least 6-7 mandates. But, the system made it impossible.
In this legislature, we will be legally represented with a mandate as a deputy, which we would like to come from the ranks of the open lists. Again, the system used all its tricks to not allow it as a new democratic standard.
The 'Albania Becomes' movement is a movement that was created on the concept of competition and meritocracy, and we will continue to fight during these four years for the depoliticization of the electoral administration, for the opening of the lists, for the law on referendums, for the democratization of Albania and against those who have established a system that has taken our country hostage.
That said, we cannot be different, except in the face of the perpetrators of the hostage-taking of Albania, Edi Rama and Sali Berisha. In this legislature, we will be represented by the deputy, Mrs. Ana Dajko, who will periodically present draft laws formulated by the legal team of the Movement, to represent the need for change in the problems in various areas of citizens' lives. As for the above, legally we will see you in Parliament, politically we will see you on the streets of the homeland! "- said Lapaj.
