This time, the mayor, isolated in detention since February 10, seeks to overturn the Special Appeal decision of June 8, which left the coercive measure against him in force.
According to official data from the Supreme Court, the Criminal Panel that will review Veliaj's objection will be led by Judge Albana Boksi.
Together with the mayor, businessman Elman Abule is also requesting a change to the "house arrest" security measure in the same case.
Referring to the file filed by SPAK, Mayor Veliaj is accused of five criminal offenses: "corruption", "money laundering", "hiding assets", "bringing prohibited items into prison", and "abuse of office", committed separately in 13 criminal episodes.
Veliaj has been in custody for several months, as a person under investigation by SPAK for a matter related to corruption and abuse of office.
