The opposition has announced that it will hold its next national protest on February 20, following the actions against the government.
During an online conversation with citizens, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, focused on the protest strategy and the steps that, according to him, the opposition should follow.
Asked about the possibility of escalating the action, Berisha stated that the decisive moment will be when citizens decide to block the boulevard.
"We will not stop the uprising without overthrowing the narco-state. Your idea of not leaving the square is absolutely the right idea. The very moment that the citizens decide, that will be the final phase of our daily life ," Berisha said.
His statements come on the eve of the announced protest, while the opposition has emphasized that the action will continue until its political objectives are met.
Berisha's statements have been interpreted as a warning of scenarios of tension and unrest, while it remains to be seen how the February 20 protest will be organized and what security measures the authorities will take.
The latest opposition protest was accompanied by incidents between protesters and law enforcement.
According to official police data, there were officers and citizens injured, while several people were escorted and criminally prosecuted for acts of violence and resisting police officers.
Authorities reported arrests and the initiation of proceedings, while the opposition accused the police of excessive use of force.
